Understanding Account Types

Tare is designed for several different roles within a hauling operation.
Each role has its own permissions to keep the workflow clean, secure, and easy to manage.
Before you begin using the app, it helps to understand how these account types work together.

Dispatcher

Dispatchers have the highest level of access within a company.
A dispatcher may also operate as a subcontractor and can receive incoming RFOs (Request For Operators) from other companies.

A Dispatcher can:

  • Create and manage dispatches
  • Send RFOs (Request For Operators) to employees and external companies
  • Receive incoming RFOs
  • Accept or reject RFOs
  • Add equipment, customers, and PO numbers
  • Invite employees and subcontractors
  • View compliance data
  • Run reports and queries
  • Manage company settings

Dispatchers manage the operational side of the business and oversee all users within their company.

Employee — Driver / Operator

Drivers focus entirely on executing assigned work.

A Driver can:

  • Receive RFOs from their dispatcher
  • Submit digital tickets (including photos)
  • View the history of their completed RFOs
  • Access assigned equipment details such as insurance and MVI data

A Driver cannot:

  • Create dispatches
  • Add equipment or customers
  • Approve tickets
  • Access other users’ data

Drivers only see information relevant to their assigned jobs and equipment.

Employee — Bookkeeper (Read-Only)

Bookkeepers help with billing, reconciliation, and administration.
They have visibility into company data but no ability to modify it.

A Bookkeeper can:

  • View all tickets
  • View dispatches
  • View RFOs
  • View equipment and customer information
  • Export data for billing or accounting

A Bookkeeper cannot:

  • Create dispatches
  • Submit or approve tickets
  • Edit equipment or customer details
  • Manage users

They have full read-only access for financial and administrative tasks.

Owner-Operator

Owner-operators run their own single-truck operation and may also work under other dispatchers as subcontractors.

An Owner-Operator can:

  • Manage their own company workspace
  • View all of their own tickets
  • Track compliance for their equipment
  • Receive dispatches or RFOs from other companies

An Owner-Operator cannot:

  • Create their own dispatches
  • Assign work to others
  • Access features intended for multi-user companies

This role provides independence while enabling smooth subcontracting.

How Roles Work Together

Each role supports a different part of the Tare workflow:

  • Dispatchers issue work and manage operations
  • Drivers complete work and submit tickets
  • Bookkeepers verify, reconcile, and export data
  • Owner-operators participate independently while accepting work from other companies

This structure keeps operations simple, secure, and transparent across every company using Tare.
